It all began in 1995 when Sam Adkisson founded Oklahoma Custom Coating in Seminole, OK, focusing on electrocoating(e-coat). Over the years, we expanded our capabilities, adding powder coating, liquid coating, and chemical processing to our offerings.
In 2005, we extended our reach to McAllen, TX, by establishing Metal Processing International (MPI). MPI initially focused on electrocoating but soon diversified to include liquid coating and chemical processing.
In 2009, MPI took a significant step by acquiring a 101,000-square-foot facility in Mission, TX. This facility became home to a massive e-coat system, one of the country’s largest job shop e-coat tanks, capable of accommodating weights up to 7 tons.
In 2012, we embarked on developing new application techniques, including the revolutionary application of e-coat to the interior of pipes. We also introduced Z-PEX, a thin-film, extreme environment coating system with applications in the oil & gas, HVAC, and industrial sectors. This led to filing patent applications and trademarks for these groundbreaking technologies.
As of 2017, we began leveraging our intellectual property to venture into distributing coating materials and chemicals to OEMs, offering comprehensive finishing solutions that add value. Today, all of our resources are consolidated under the banner of Ecoat.us to provide unified and comprehensive coating solutions to clients across the US.
We push coating application technology into new areas, with world class monitoring/ control & the ability to coat the ID/OD of large items (up to 30’ long & 7 tons). Cross-linking E-coat primer & a wide range of multi-functional topcoats can address a wide range of applications.

Oklahoma Custom Coating started in 1995, providing E-coat, liquid, and powder coatings in Seminole, OK. Our patented Zpex & Finkote process applications were developed in Oklahoma, and today, Seminole serves as the headquarters for the companies.
In 2005, Metal Processing International opened in Mission, TX, offering coating services with 30’ x 10’ x 3′ process capabilities and a weight capacity of 14,000 lbs.
In 2021, the company opened Ecoat.us, a 3rd plant in Tulsa, OK, offering E-coat, liquid, and powder with 12’x6’ x 3′ process capabilities and a weight capacity of 1200 pounds lbs.
In 2024, the company will open Ecoat.us in Cleveland, TN, to offer E-coat, liquid, and powder for parts 18.5′ x 7.5′ x 4’x7’ process capabilities and weight capacity of 4,000 lbs.
Today, all facilities operate as Ecoat.us. The corporate office in Seminole, OK, provides centralized leadership and oversees operations at the four plant locations. The business is privately held and strives to maintain a small company feel while growing into a national company in scope, offering our patented products, Zpex & Finkote, and additionally e-coat, liquid, pretreatment, and powder coating services.
